Motor Squadron

The Motor Squad was formed in 1941 by Larry Ketzel as a coastal watch group as a result of the attack on Pearl Harbor. After the end of WWII the squad continued to assist the Sheriff with traffic enforcement and Special Events.
The Motor Squad currently consists of five Level I and Level II reserves and ten Deputy Sheriff's and Sergeants. Each member must purchase his own equipment, to include the motor unit, in order to participate in Motor Squad events. Motor Squad duties range from traffic enforcement to assisting at Special Events throughout Monterey County.
